User login and Stay logged in.

How do i get users who log in to be logged in when they go to other parts of my site?

I can connect to the database and check password, but then what? When i go to annother page(following a link) how do i keep logged in?

I think its somthing to do with session cookies is it?

Sessions have the advantage over simple cookies that they work even when some user has disabled cookies. You will need PHP 4 to use the session functions...
