I thought it was those annoying cuddley toys that you could teach to talk and then after about an hour wanted to kick against the nearest brick wall (oh that was a fun christmas)

I cam see the likeness to Kirby. Was he the one that ate things and then flew?

Kirby indeed ingests normally non edible artifacts (people, cars, perl scripts, etc.) and then transforms then into gas (ultra fast digesting process) and uses the previously mentioned gas to fly.

Kirby is basically a flatulent cute gozilla.
