Problem after upgratind to new mySQL

Well, I installed mysql 4.0.11a-gamma and everything went ok... The problem is that when I try to access the database I get this message:

Access denied for user: 'root@127.0.0.1' (Using password: YES)

From what I understand mySQL accepts the password but rejects the host and login?! Anyone could help me out?

This just means you are using the password, not that it accepted it. More than likely you're passing the wrong pass.

I checked the password and it's the right pass... If I remove it phpmyadmin works but my script doesn't... strange, didn't had this prob with 4.0.1 but when i try to install 4.0.1 again I get the smae error... :/
