PHP's Line numbers VERY messed up

Ok, just so you know, this isn't the usual line number things, where php tells you it was expecting a ";" or something on a line number when it was supposed to be the line before it.

PHP has, in my latest script, gone haywire. When I mess up a line, it's telling me that I have an error on lines like 20-30 lines before it and stuff like that. I mean, REALLY messed up stuff. Of if I call a variable that doesn't exist, for example, it's telling me the variable doesn't exist on a completely different line #, like 10 lines away or something.

Any ideas what's going on here? It's only happening in this script. PHP seems to be working fine in all the other one's still..

same here... it said i had a T_Variable error on line 6 when it was actually on 78...

yea, it makes it very hard fixing an error when its pointing you the wrong way lol

You lot using the inlcude(); function anywere?

Including files will make the numbering go haywire as they are included funnily enough.

Actually, I've been using requrie_once();

It's Similar to include. What is it exactly that makes it do this, and/or how can I get passed it??

However, I use that in every one of my scripts, so I don't understand why it should be getting messed up in this particular one..

say you got 10 lines in the required file and 30 in the main one.

If you had an error one the last line of the main one the line number would be 40.

Try using include, i am not sure if my last post was correct, i think now its the require commands that cause this.

This isn't quite right. As I stated earlier, this is the ONLY file that the line numbers are messed up, and ALL my main page files have the include script. Line numbers aren't messed up in ANY of my other scripts.

Also, I'm getting told I have errors on EARLIER line numbers than where they actually occur, not later. This seems to be the ONLY consistency to the reporting of these errors.

as ever, it's difficult to give specific answers if you havent posted the code. If you post it and we run it and get the same errors, then we will have a better idea of what's wrong. if we dont get the same errors, then it's a problem with yours. either way, we're much more able to assist.

I'm afraid this won't work, as it's a 1000 line script.

Nobody's knows how to fix this very strange and weird problem? It's not an error in my script any more, as I've figured out where the errors are and fixed them, but the problem here is that if ther IS an error, PHP is fudging the line numbers quite terribly.
