apache crashing on query

i'm using a form to delete some entries from my database with the simple button:

<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Delete">

which calls a separate page with the code:

	$sql = "delete from news where id = $id";
	mysql_query($sql);
	header("Location:authorise_story.php");
}

what's odd is when i click the button explorer thinks for a while and then i get one of those XP "apache http server has encountered an error, would you like to send a report" things, and i have to restart explorer. Oddly, the sql has run and the entry has been deleted from the database.

Anyone spot something above that i cant? Or has any idea what's going on?

Take a look at your Apache logs john

Or failing that look at the services logs

I had a similar problem - turned out to be the fdf.dll in the php ini

Commented it out and now its fine

humm, good plan.

when i tried to view the event viewer i was told that the log was corrupt (not a good sign), so i cleared it and retried it, and got the error:

my apache log has the error:

should i just comment out this dll, or is there something more serious afoot you think?

Hmm not 100% about commenting it out cause that dll is pretty heavyweight

You got the fdf dll enabled in the php ?

Could be that you have a corrupt dll? :mad:

What's changed on your server?

One thing that i did notice is that your running apache 2.* i'm on 1.3.27 and plan to stay that way until Apache 2 is more reliable
