Modify Key?

I recently bought a script from a site that has just disappeared.

Before they went 404 - I asked them to create a new "key" for me so I could move this script to another site. The key is a text file named scriptname-key.key - that has three lines of characters and digets that I assume is MD5 hashed code (?)

Is there any way I can make a new key or bypass this old key to get the script to work?

These folks have been gone for almost 2 weeks now.

Why don't you look into these script, search the line where these key is checked, and remove it?

Not that easy for me - but I'll give it a shot.

Didn't know if there was a way to "re-key" a key - so I thought I'd ask first.

I'll start hacking away today 😉

Search in all the scripts for the filename where the key is stored in.
then you have a place to start for looking what's done with this key.

if that won't work, attach the script in this forum : )

After searching many times - it seems as if the key import/check is hidden somehow.

Not sure how they did it.

It's more than one script - it's a suite of scripts. It wouldn't be feasible to attach them to this board really...

Other suggestions?

well if you want email the scripts to me in a zip file and i will spend some time hacking it tonight.

also what site did you get it from, i would not want to be doing anything illegal 😉

From digging around a bit - it looks like they used some sort of encryption program that protects parts of their code.

The site is phpauction.org

It has been down for almost 2 weeks now.
