An alternative to sendmail?

I have a script that mails people their password when they sign up for an account.

I don't really want to run a mail server.
So I was wondering if there is an alternative to sendmail.
It would be nice if I could just send mail through the command line.

If your in a linux environment, you can use the sendmail program without running the sendmail daemon (server). You call it from the command line, that's all.
