I have seen, somewhere, an ActiveX code snippet that may be designed to do this. I suppose PHP could send it to the computer. You'll have to do some googling....

I have seen this implemented before as well....googling apears to be the anser.....maybe a COM implementation?

just remember it may very well be dpecific to only a single version of windows (and service pack level)
