Log out, $PHP_AUTH_USER

Is there any way to log out $PHP_AUTH_USER, i would like to be able to log this kind of Authentication out... i know closing the browser does this, but i would like the users to have the peice of mind that they are correctly logged out, without having to cross of the window. if you know what i mean,

if not, is there any other way of doing this... i havent had chance to look up how to use sessions, but is this possibly the way to do it ?
