When a session has been initiated and a popup window was "popped" will the popup window have access to the session variables?

Yessir it will. Any page will have access to the sessions. They are there until the client shuts down the browser. Issue this at the top of each page you want to have the sessions available:

session_start ();

After that, you'll have 'em all stored in the $_SESSION array.
