Is this the correct Idea

Hi all, I am sort of new to the workings of PHP and MySQL. My question actually is about the functionality of these two languanges and there compatibility for the following.

There is a site that has been built using Access that was upgraded to MS SQL 7.0, and as you can imagine has several ongoing issues/errors. (BTW I didnt build it)

I am trying to assess if MySQL would be the appropriate platform for the DB, considering there are an average of 200 - 600 transactions done per week on the site. It is an accommodation site www.dingoescape.com (this is not meant to be a plug just to explain my point)

If anyone could advise me if MySQL would be suitable or if I should be looking at another language that would be appreciated.

MySQL is every bit as powerful as MS SQL Server... Company I worked for did thousands of transactions per hour with it, no problems. The current one i'm with does hundreds per day, never an issue.
