MYODBC Connection Failed

Hi,

I'm using Microsoft Access in Windows NT 4.0 to access a MYSQL database in a RedHat Linux 8.0 machine and the connection is through MYODBC. Initially, it worked fine with the IP address 10.247.X.X but because my company is having a network restructure, I had to change the IP address to an external address at 202.95.X.X, thereby placing the linux machine behind the firewall. With this new IP address, I'm not able to access the database and I will get a prompt telling me that the ODBC connection failed. I've already gone into the ODBC Data Sources in the Control Panel to make the IP changes. Anyone could help me solve this problem? I've already made the firewall to allow port 3306.

Sure the ODBC Connection isd handled on port 3306?
And sure you opened the answer ports? I think they are dynamically controlled like by the FTP protocol, somewhere > 60000.
But not sure about this...

I'm not the firewall administrator, so I'm not 100% sure that the port 3306 is opened. But it had been confirmed that it is opened by the administrator. The thing is that he said there is not even traffic reaching his firewall. However, I can do a ping to the Linux machine. When I use a mysql console, I can directly access the database. So I'm really puzzled why ODBC connection fails when I use the Microsoft Access to reach the Linux box.
