Here's the scenario I'm working with:

table with several fields which contain a unique ID, some content, the date ect.

What I'm trying to accomplish.

Drop down menu or clickable link which only shows one of the above, for instance the title of the content to be edited. Once the link is clicked on or the form submitted, I would like to open an edit page with additional content for instance, the the user clicks the title, up opens a window that has the title field, a content field ect. Is there a simple way to have the form fields fill in the data or associate the values associated with the visible link as hidden form fields to be passed onto the content editing form? I've been pouding my head on this one for about a week trying to think of a non-kludgy solution. Any help is much appreciated.

What you could do( at least that's how've done it in the past) is to give each link a name that includes the id; best is to store the names in an array. Fe. for title you could use title[$id_value] as variable to use in the GET part of the link(href="show_data.php?title[$id_value]=$title[$id_value])"). Here show_data.php would be the file to display all the data you want to see for the relevant title.
