I'm really new to php and this is probably a silly question but I wanted to connect to a another MySql database on a diffrent web site. Do I just change the "localhost" to the website's IP address ?

i.e

$server = "212.69.196.55"; // Your MySQL server address (usually 'localhost' but can be IP or DNS)

Yes,

but.. You would of course need the username / password / table to acces to the database

you are right, just fill in the IP or hostname

but be very carefull with that !
make sure that only the server you are connecting from, has access to the mysql server besides localhost
this is configured in mysql.host table

I got the username/ password and database name - no probs there.

Bit confused with the mysql.host bit could you put that into dumb form so I can understand it :-)

I've been given the access to another MySQL database, and info is in the database are also on the bestbuys.php below

http://www.justamortgage.com/feeds/bestbuys.php

I'm trying to create a page similar to

http://www.justamortgage.com/best_buys.php?b=000013

Which is the output of this database.

As I said I'm brand spanking new to this type of php scripting and any help would be much appreciated.
