What does this warning mean? It won't let ppl send me an email from my 'contact us' page.

Warning: mail() [function.mail]: SMTP server response: 503 This mail server requires authentication. Please check your mail client settings. in C:\Inetpub\invistation\contact2.php

I don't know if it's a problem with the php settings or not.

This is my friend's server on a WIN NT box running php and mysql. He's not using Apache.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think what that basically means is the your mail server has SMTP authentication turned on. if that is the case, i dont think you can use the PHP mail function to send the email. You will have to use the many widely available classes (such as the one is PEAR) to connect to the SMTP server and send the authentication username and password to send the mail.
