Why does this mysql statement not work when executed in a php script??

SELECT I.ID FROM information AS I, bookline AS B WHERE I.ID = B.ID AND (B.B1 LIKE "%truck%") OR (B.B2 LIKE "%truck%")

There could be many reasons for this, most likely it is either DB permissions or quotes used to in the SQL statement (or related).

It would be easier to help you, if you passed in the error msg.

A little more info would be nice. As corsc said, the error. Also, about 3-5 lines of code around the sql query, or however much is needed.

  SELECT I.ID 
  FROM information I, bookline B 
  WHERE I.ID = B.ID 
  AND B.B1 LIKE "%truck%" 
  OR B.B2 LIKE "%truck%"

ok, I trid it like this now and it still does not work. It executes just fine, if I do this...

SELECT I.ID FROM information AS I, bookline AS B WHERE I.ID = B.ID AND B.B1 LIKE "%truck%"

do I have the correct syntax??

Using a join can make things clearer.

SELECT information.ID
FROM information
LEFT JOIN bookline ON information.ID = bookline.ID
WHERE
bookline.B1 LIKE '%truck%' OR
bookline.B2 LIKE '%truck%';

By the way, having to use the same LIKE statement on two different fields probably means that the data in these fields should be in another table and then linked back to bookline.
