I get that on my phpmyadmin..???
why?
My server is mysqld-opt

It means that you used the wrong password or that there is no password set for root.

Now I get this error, since I changed my server from mysqld-opt to mysqld
I also stopped using winmysqladmin to load my server, I do it using the command line. The user and password are correct, I double checked.

That error message normally means that the server is not running or you are trying to connect on the wrong port.

Try going back to mysqld-opt. It shouldn't make any difference though.

If it would be the wrong port, then what port should I use? I dought using mysqld-opt will work also, but I'll try it. I used to use this program all the time, but since I got a new version of MySQL, everything got messed up.

..Well that didn't do much.. I guess I'll reinstall MySQL again.. and fix some stuff up.

Unless you have consciously changed for port settings you shouldn't have to worry about the port that mysql is running on.

Try running myisamchk to make sure the tables are ok. They may have been corupted when you failed to shutdown the server correctly.

i had this problem when i just started..solution is really simple..
kill mysql first🙂..in mycql folder there's file *.pid
open it get pid
type kill "number" 🙂
now u have to restart it skippin grant tables
then u create a user or give all priveleges to some user
this time don't forget password🙂
then...even in phphmyadmin..u edit config..insert dat "super user" details

it says how to fix this problem
