basic search format?

I'm going to be creating a website for music CD reviews, and I want to have a search box for someone to search out a CD title or an artist and for it to list results of all the reviews containting those search terms. I've never coded a search function before and have no idea where to start, could someone please explain the general procedure/code used when doing searching using info from a mysql database. thanks!

There are numerous ways to search. If you do know what fields you are going to search by then just query these fields in your sql.. e.g fields1 like '%keyword%' but if you want to search all fields for that particular keyword, mysql full text searches will give you a better solution.
