Hi there,

I'm looking for a good content management application/script (free) and although I've found a few options that come close (phpnuke, openCMS), I was wondering if people in here would have any suggestions/feedback.

What I'll need it to do :

  • news management (& archive)

  • columns publications (could be hacked from the news part)

  • poll

  • mailinglist

  • linkindex

  • a system for submission of recipes (visitors submit, after validation by admin it's published automatically)

  • events agenda/schedule

  • further the engine/script should be template driven so pages with 'normal' content (text/pictures) can be added with ease.

  • user registration (preferably with the possibility to integrate this with phpBB forum user registration)

Any suggestions/experiences on scripts/applications that can do this or which have many modules, please let me know...

Thanks a lot in advance,

G'wan, take the challenge and make your own. Its kinda fun 🙂

I'd give you mine, but it was only to make my life easier in as much as I could change stuff from the web as opposed to hard files, its not really designed for easy updating by users cos it expects the HTML!

      Hi Hermand,

It definatelly is fun! However - rather than spending weeks on writing PHP for 1 project, I'll invest the time in several projects. Got too many ideas to work out! Once they are up and running I can do things for 'fun' 🙂

What abouts your script, what are the features? I might give it a try after all and write a news posting system for my Julia Roberts website ( www.juliarobertsonline.com ), updating the news into static files is too time-consuming..and time is one thing I don't have lately :S

shameful, I know... but I really like fullXML... http://www.fullxml.com/

developing hacks for this really got my ASP going, and it got me into a lot of web development. I've set myself a project of making a php version that will accept fullxml data files and make an identical site using php instead of asp... but that requires a bit more patience than I'm willing to invest right now...
