Forum and Messenger

I wanted to create a forum for my site. It is a total rack on my brain. I don't want drop down things. I want it similar to this forum, but only with a little designing. The hard part, however, is making it. Does anyone have a workable script that they can let me have and custom to my likings? Also, it would be helpful to know the database table(s) information so that I won't have to guess.

Also, as you know, some sites offer messaging between the members of the site. Does anyone have a script and MySQL information for this?

Why not just use phpBB or Invision Board? This has what you are looking for.

That isn't what I want. I want to make one myself. Totally. I just need the script. It is similar to that, yet different. I want it so I can work on it, and not pre-made.

You do realize that you are contradicting yourself, don't you? You want to make one yourself but you want the script for it. If you want a referrence for code then just download one of the two that I mentioned above and look at the code.

I once made a small forum.. it was fairly easy and made it within a few days.

1st.. you will need to set up tables for the categories and sub categories of the forum. Then you will need to set up a table for the topics (which means not for the replies.. but only topics).. then you need to create a table called posts... here will include every post made on the forum.

The reason for topics as one table and posts as another.. is so that you can assign the posts to go to whichever topic... 🙂

Also.. you will need to set up user login and profile and stuff like that.

That is just a basic forum.. Notice I didn't explain how to use it all.. but maybe that will help you a bit.
