question aboute replaceing " with \"

why does this work:

str_replace( "\"", "\" . "\"", $Params[$i] )

but not this?:

str_replace( "\"", "\\"", $Params[$i] )

(and yes - im a newbie to this :-)

and how would I do it with regular expressions?

hummm, i wouldn't reinvent the wheel if i were you...

addslashes()
