Now that they are successfully experimenting with teleportation in the science community, we're really smart people discussing the possibilies...

well now.. the way i understand it the person is completly dissasembled and then transfered.. it doesnt take away one molecule then send it then another..so if the transportation stoped in the middle, well who knows.. what would happen the the person? what would happen to the conciousness (if it is a seperate entity)?

But what if it stopped in the middle of dissasembling? youd have half a person.. with the other half.. hmm where?

...And then what if the criminal world got a hold of the technology and figured out how to transfer consciousness into another body during concurrent teleportation- the same criminal mind, but constantly changing bodies.

hmm... maybe the computer should keep a backup of whatever its supposed to reassemble in a temp folder.... that way if there's a power outage or something, the teleporter can still transport your body to the destination later on...

yea.. but thats not the thing.. the power goes out while its dissasembling the body.. unless i scans first then dissasembles.. but if so.. what happens during the mean time while your in between.. are you considered alive?

I think you would be considered to be alive... just in "limbo" perhaps.

Here again with the criminal theme 🙂 - but perhaps instead of jails in the future where we have to feed, clothe, and house criminals, we would just disassemble them molecularly, store them in space somewhere, and then put them back together when they're done doing their time. Would cut down on the space needed here on earth and taxpayer money... and greatly reduce the number of prison riots 🙂

also what if someone managed to steal the computer or device that housed them all.. 😉 sounds like another movie idea.

hmm, doesn't sound too painful, besides that all your friends etc have died/grown older, so where's the punishment then?
I could imagine there would be people paying money for this!!

yea your right.. the trick would be to make the live it still (like in a Virtual reality locked up in a cell).. but without the physical things like space.. clothing. food etc.

I don't know that you can actually "cheat" space... except for maybe in Scrabble, like if you tried to use "alot" as your word, when we all know it's "a lot" and therefore unacceptable. 🙂

I mean if you think of our brain as a incredibly complex computer hardrive.. or for that matter a computer.. you can take a computer apart (into peices) then take them across town and put them back together.. pretty much the same thing with teleporting humans (dealing with the disassembly and reassembly not the actual transportation).. but so much more complex.

But to do that while the computer is running?
