higlight search terms

I use the following script to query my brand new mysql db, though it doesn't highlight the search terms input by a end user. How can i make it display results ina a google-style manner?
All code works within the same file (both form and search engine itself). Any help would be welcome. I've experienced lots of different regexp approaches, though none did work since i do not know where to insert the highlight function codelines.

Once you are quering it out of the db.. you will need to add...

ob_start();
highlight_string($var)
$var = ob_get_contents();
ob_end_clean();

that should work for you

just add it where your echoing the data to the user

I've tried to place your piece of code within the echo function that displays retrieved data. No success at all. Could you tell me exactly where shall i put it? As a complete dummy about php programming (i just re-use scripts and know general guidelines through this hard subject) i would be grateful to you. Thanxx in advance!

Is this script a mean to let me understand what to? Can't figure it out at all. Still don't know what to do... As i told you before, my programming experience with php is none.

Heh we all go through the bad times with php.. anyways.. show me what you get... you need to add it in the query.. let me see how you have it.. and what do you get as outpu.. error, text, etc???

errr well what i gave you is only for scripts.. i though you wanted it for scripts... if its like that then you will have to create your onw functions for that...
