Adding data from an array

Bare with me cause im new to php and mysql.

i want to grab the "cost" data (using an array) and add them all together to get me a "total_cost". What would be the best way to accomplish this.

Im looking to print out:
Total amount due is: "total_cost"

$result = mysql_query ("SELECT * FROM services
WHERE cid LIKE '$ID'
AND pif LIKE 'n'
");
if ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {
do {

That didn't quite work.

The total_cost (total_counter in your example) did not add up the "cost".

Also, the else statement must contain "No current invoices on file", because it means all their invoices are paid in full ("pif"=y)

Here is what im looking to get on a seperate line from the table:

Total Amount Due: <?PHP echo $total_cost ?>
