[Resolved] Cannot run PHP script directly from the server

Hi!, I developed my first PHP application with PHP-MySQL-Apache-RedHat 8.

The system works perfectly well when running the scripts using a web browser from a remote LAN PC connected to the RedHat Apache server, BUT when I try to run the scripts from within the server it edits de code instead of running it...

RedHat uses Konqueror and I can see that some php scripts are identified with a screwdriver instead of the normal file association. The same happends from the prompt.

Any ideas ?

do you use sth like http://localhost/script.php ?
php is not parsed when using direct path (/www/docroot/script.php)

yes - even on the server itself you have to run the scripts through a web browser (ie through the http protocol). just double clicking on the script file will not parse it through apache.

Now... my final target is to set up a cron that will execute one php script.

A friend of mine (from the old Unix world) already helped me to program the cron, but he point it as a regular file not thru http or a browser.

So my question is: how should we set up a cron to run my php script ?

in the php-folder should be the php binary "php" or "php.exe"

so I think it's sufficent to use the standard time entries
followed by "/pathtophp/php /path/to/script/script.php"
