Cannot find this in the forum

I am sorry to repeat this question, that someone else had asked before, but I've search through the forum again for this thread that I've read before about parsing URL, but cannot find it any more, so I hope someone can help me with this.

I wish to do this
1) Open a URL file
2) Parse all the href urls in the file.

I want to retrieve all the hyperlink links in the file regardless its relative or absolute. how do i do the preg match?

still new to preg_match
may i noe wads the diff between preg_match_all and preg_match? reading the documentation in php.net doesn't help me with the understanding of the difference due to my poor reading and understanding level.

preg_match - matches one occurrence (the first)
preg_match_all - matches all occurrences

Alright I took sometime to understand your comment. Now did I realise if the <a> tag contains stuffs like,

den it won't work. 🙁 So how do I bypass it?
