double quotes, data not passed..

hello-

i'm having trouble getting material that follows double quotes to write to mysql. i have tried addslashes and mysql_escape_string on the query page, but they don't work.

For example:
1. enter quoted material
2. display confirmation screen (quoted material appears with slashes automatically)
3. submit via hidden element to mysql query page

all material inside the quotes and after it is not saved, and the results page only displays slashes.

You need to do the addslashes directly before adding it to MySQL.

the problem is actually in my page flow.because i'm submitting material across multiple form pages, the content is evaporating before i even get to the insert.

i'm going to try to disable magic quotes and use addslashes, but i don't know how that will hold up across multiple forms.

So you have these in the hidden fields? The first step is to work out precisely which stage they disappear. Look at the source of each consecutive form AFTER executing it (View -> Source in IE, yeah.) and make sure the hidden fields have the data.

Then, you can focus on where the problem is.
