PHP and Flash

Hi all!

Was hoping someone might be able to help me or at least point me in the right direction -

I am working with flash and a text file (.txt) which is storing some data saved by the user (via PHP).

I have got the php section for writing to the text file working with no probs and getting data from a txt file in flash is simple ...... but unfortunately flash caches everything!.

So I was told that my best bet was to use PHP to get the data from the txt file and then for flash to take the data from the PHP file.

Does anyone know how to do that?

I am afraid that my head can´t quite grasp the context of getting the data from php.

If it caches from a text file, then it'll cache from PHP too. Remember, to all intense and purposes, PHP is just a normal file after being executed.

You are right, but I read a suggestion somewhere to use the following actionscript to load the variables from PHP

loadVariablesNum("inputs.php?whatever="+(new Date()).getTime(), 0);

I am led to beleive, that prevents caching, or at least limits the probability.

Can you post the actionscript in question--are you having it load from a txt file or straight from a php file?

I've never had a problem with variables caching.

if you use this in a php-header

header ("Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate");  // HTTP/1.1
header ("Pragma: no-cache");                          // HTTP/1.0
?>

you retreive latest values, not cached ones. So try not to have flash solve it, use php.
