How to capture signals/information from serial/parallel port(s) using PHP-GTK

I need to "listen" and "catch" information that comes either from a serial or a parallel port using PHP-GTK. Is this possible? If so, how?

Yes... I read that part of the manual but I am one of those people that have to have a working solution for both Windows and *NIX :-( And as the manual clearly states:

This extension is not available on Windows platforms.

If I only developed for NIX it would not been a hustle :-) Probably I would use Perl then... It would be childs play ;-) But thanks anyway... The amount of replies clearly says that this is not an easy issue puh* :-)
