localhost question

not specific to coding, but, someone will probly know the answer.

i remember once i setup my webserver to load when i put the name of my project in the address bar in ie.

cc was the name of my project
hence
http://cc
or
cc
loaded it if i remember correctly.
i can't remember what file i edited for this, it could have been hosts
but i'm not sure
can someone confirm this or point me in the right direction? thanks

This works under win98 for me:

Control Panel >> Network >> Identification >> Then change the blank by "Computer Name:"

Should do the trick!

So say you named it "FrozNic" you could access your webserver by going to http://FrozNic/

i have xp corp. not that i'm incapable of finding this on the web (which i might have to do, just don't have time right now) just if anyone is straggling by and see's this post and knows the answer it'd be great 🙂 thanks!
