Hello everyone. 😃

I have been lurking for a while, and decided its time to introduce myself. My name is Ambe, and I have a website that really needs help. I have downloaded the Adobe GoLive, and have no idea how to begin.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also, (dont laugh), but for example, could I design an entire web site with Adobe GoLive?

I am really tired of hosting companies telling for about $8-10,000 dollars they can provide me with a nice website. I do not have that kind of $$$.

Your site looks fine. Could you be more specific in terms of what you want?

Well, first of all, my site is framed, and the search engines CANNOT spider down, so if I want to show up on the first couple pages, (even with meta's) I have to do Ad Words - ouch $$$!. And with the template, I am too limited to the design etc.

My main concern though, is the catalog shopping cart area. I have a lot of al la carte items, and customers have been complaining of how they have to add, go back, add, go back. I need a multi item shopping cart, where they type the quantity of all the items they want, and then just click "add to cart" one time.

Anyways. I have contacted the hosting companies for these 2 sites, but cannot afford what they will charge.

I really would like to design my own site, but do not know where to begin with the trial download.

Your site can be indexed by search engines even though it is in a frame and you might consider the following article while you are redesigning your site.

Even though Go Live has been updated to have database support I wouldn't using it to build database applications. GoLive's code can be "buggy" if you don't know how to use the program. It is a great tool to design html sites though.

So, I should not do a website with the Adobe GoLive? LOL, I am too new at this. Sorry guys.

What program would you guys reccomend, that I can use to make my own site?

Like he said, Go Live is a great tool to design plain HTML sites in (or mabye not so plain ones). Another good tool is Macromedia's Dreamweaver.. or howa about Microsoft Frontpage? (shriek do not use MFP!)

anyways those are all WYSIWYG editors (and they have some coding support)... though my favorite is notepad (or vi depending on my platform at the moment).

I do not know of any PHP related dev applications.. I would love to know of some as well.

Your best bet is Microsoft Front Page. It is quite expensive but worth it. It is simple to use and get a grip of.

Alternately, if you want to continue using GoLive, you could go to a template website and select one that you liked, then edit it in GoLive. I'm sure there are many party style templates there.

In regard to your shopping cart script, you are better off looking for a free one rather than having one custom made.

dreamweaver handles php very nicely, even allowing you to set up links to mysql servers etc if you want to use the inbuilt dev tools.

However, i use it because of it's line numbering / code colouring features, and you wont go back to notepad after using it, i assure you.
