"Insert Image" function????

Is it possible with php to code a function that works to the effect of inserting an image into an html text box? The reason I'm asking is because I've coded a small cms, and I want to be able to insert an image, stored localy, any where I want in the text box on my "add article" page. I have something in mind like the "insert image"function you can see in dreamweaver, if this is even possible in php...

hmm... do you mean that you want the image to appear within the text box (which is not possible as it is a text box), or do you mean a text box and facility to upload images to the CMS which can then be used as needed?

Hmm, ok, i obviously haven't explained very well...

i'm sure you've seen the "nuke cms" look, before?? On the articles page, the is a box where you put the headline...then a box for the text of the article.....you hit "go" and your new article is then published on your page, or whereever you told it to publish. Well, my cms is a sort of modified version of that. But I want to include pictures into my article, and what I'm wondering is, is there a function which would enable me to insert pictures into my articles from my cms? I hope this makes sense, my crappy english, I can try to explain more....

Ah, you want to be able to upload files!

The HTML form element is the "file" input type
<input type="file">

Thanks, that sheds quite a bit of light onto the matter of file-uploads. Is it possible to assign each picture an id as it is uploaded (relevant only to THAT article, of course) and a code e.i <pic1>, that way when the user is wrighting the article, they can insert the tag <pic1> and when they submit the article, the text and the picture for <pic1> will be shown on the homepage?? if that makes any sense at all.

well, have you tried writing a script to upload yet?

If you have, you would realize that you need to name, or re-name, the file as it is uploaded (i.e. a copy of the file is made).

I believe the function to use would be copy()

For the code, you'll probably need some sort of bbcode-type of parser.
