PHP and mpeg/avi?

Hi there,

i was thinking about creating a page which serves as a download page for small movies. So i thought, why not create "thumbnails" for movies, as you do for images. Now i am trying to find out if it's possible to capture the FIRST FRAME out of a movie file and display that on a webpage?
I have absolutly no idea how a movie works, so i'm hoping to get some tips here...
First of all, is this possible? If yes, how? 🙂

To be quite honest im not sure if it is possible to just get the first frame.

You may need to take a screenshot of the first frame.

i think it is possible with real player files, you can play one frame and stop the movie at one frame. to display in browser it is also possible.

if you are useing real player file then research more in google.

Well, the files aren't real player files.. it are mpg files, created by a digital camera...
