removing BR from textarea

hi there all...

okay.. here's the scenario..

i got a text area..
which let me write and keep address in the db..
so everytime i want to keep an address..
u use

nl2br($_POST['mytextarea'])

but when i want to edit it..
i want it to display in a blank textarea
unfortunately, it will display the <br />..

so i thought, 'hey, lets use str_replace to replace the <br />
to something else..

still.. that doesnt quite do the job..

any idea on how i can retain the textarea format as to the one when i enter the data??

use this on your text string:

	function unhtmlentities ($string)
	{
    	$trans_tbl = get_html_translation_table (HTML_ENTITIES);
	    $trans_tbl = array_flip ($trans_tbl);
    	return strtr ($string, $trans_tbl);
	}

i think there'sa function predefined in php>4, but i find it simple enough to use that, cos i think my server is php 3 and it's a pain to upload and then find that a funciton doesnt work...

incase if anybody else wanna know how...

use

$yourtextarea = ereg_replace ("(<br />|<br/>)","", $yourtextarea);
