imagecreatefromjpeg() function???

I have been trying to get a php photo gallery up on the net, but I am having trouble calling the function imagecreatefromjpeg(). I am not writing these scripts (I DLed them of of the net) There are scripts such as Coppermine for a database driven one and SPA (Simple Photo Album) (which is made up of one file) as a non database driven one.
Any time that either of them call that function to creat a thumbnail or what ever I get an error. Is there something I need to update or something? If so how do i go about it? I am still really new to this php thing so the more instructions the better 🙂

Here are some of the specs of my server (which BTW is here so I am the admin)
WinXP Pro, IIS 5.5, PHP 4.3.1, MySQL 4.0.12

you have to enable the GD library in your php.ini file by removing the ; before the line with gd and dll in it.
