Fax via PHP/Apache?

Hi PHP-Friends,

I've developed a reservationsystem for a restaurant, and I would like to be able to send faxes directly from this app, so from the browser.

I know you can send it to a fax printer, but since the fax number is already in the database, and I can install whatever I want on the webserver (it's a lan), i would love to be able to proces it in the background, just like sending an email via mail().

Who can help me?

consider sending SMS to cell phone.

I was looking into this earlier this year. I believe www.efax.com has a service like this, but it seemed to be a greal deal of effort, and we didn't really need it, so we never went through with it.

efax.com is a pretty good service. j2.com is another service, although I believe its a bit more expensive. It will take some work to get it rolling, but it can be done. You will probably want the htmlMimeMail class that will make things really easy for you. Search these forums if you need help with the Mime mail class... there's tons of material here about it.
