Forward Recursion??

I've been requested to provide a category report that will show the category ID provided, and all it's children, grandchildren, etc. The category ID could be anywhere within the tree.
I'm stumped. I can do a recursion up the tree, but never have done one down a tree.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
