Some Ideas on some Projects

Ok im wanting to make some projects that are useful for others to use.

So far ive got a News Script and Mailing List Script which is just being tested. And started a Guestbook..

Im wanting to know what others think would be good to create. Something that is useful and most people use it on a site.

Im thinking maybe a downloads script or something. But any suggestions are welcome

I always see people asking for upload scripts, so maybe one of those, I don't know how easy it would be to make one that works for everyone, but I guess if you supply it with decent help files it'd be all good, some other ideas:

calender system (ability to add events)
shout box
banner rotator

I know all of this stuff has been made before, but then again, so have the ones you've made so I don't think you're looking for unique ideas 😃

One of the things that could be usefull is a linkage script (sorted by category for example), a wallpaper gallery, music player to play mp3's, midi's, rm's on a site that you can configure.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.. When i finish the Guestbook ill tell you which one i decide on.

Two things I'm currently thinking about are a content manager for files...for instance .mp3s of recorded seminars/speakers/preachers, etc., and a HTML calendar generated from MySQL database, with a user-oriented front-end UI.

That said, the other thing I'd love to have is a total customer management/accounting system for my office.

I'll do some looking on the www, and keep my eyes peeled here, too...

I think an inventory management system geared toward smaller retail businesses would be helpful - the ones I've seen have been tens of thousands of dollars- too rich for the blood of my clients.

I need to do something like that, although for the poor scrubs like us. HRMPH. Anyways, That being said... starts putting a project list on his site, and starts programming

LoL I know a site that has some nice features to it and was all programed from scratch that has a upload script and nice searches and forums.

I am staff on this site and right now we just hit a core code problem that is trying to be fixed don't know why now we have been running the same code for around 1 year now lol and it breaks now ppbbbbttt. Well the site owner is working on a new core script anyway we upgrading. We are running the Unifed 2x core that was programmed by our site owner and is not currnetly recoding unified to unified 3 which is being done from scratch.

So if you want some good project write a system like Unifed or PHP Nuke. They are the cool web portal system or a web core system what ever you want to call it. Just a php web system like php nuke or Unified will be a nice thing and will keep you busy.

Tekron-X nice idea.. A little bit too big for the moment.. Maybe after a few smaller ones and the forum im planning on making.. Which shouldnt be too hard.

BooRadLey some nice ideas, but i dont think a shoutbox is that popular anymore, + a lot of sites have tutorials on them. like Spoono.com. I like the calender system though..

Elizabeth - sounds like a good idea. Give me bit of a challenge.. Think i might actually do it.. Might have to take a look at a few to get an idea on how most of them work...
