Sessions Help!

Hello,

I never in my life used sessions and now I need to!!!

I need to be able to store a variable that will "move" around everywhere the visitor to my site clicks. For example: A user clicks a drop-down box to choose which car they drive. I want it so no matter which page they would click on my site, when they finally head to the registration page the car field is already filled. I know it's possible with logging in, but the user makes the login/pword at the end so I want something to happen on the server side.

If sessions can't handle this, can cookies?
I have been left confused and looking for answers at a computer monitor with meaningless php code. :-(

your script which reacts to the first form input:

session_start();
$_SESSION['car'] = "Ferrari";
...

now you can access this variable at any other page, using:

session_start();
echo $_SESSION['car'];
...

(session_start() only once per script)
