Im using WIndows XP Pro So then how do I install ISS???and where would I get it?
User Site
I think you have a fundimental misunderstanding. Unless you are hosting the website on your own server at your house, then what you have is irrelevant except for testing. Your website host, whoever you pay to host your website is either running a unix based server, or a microsoft based server. IIS is microsoft's version of a web based server, kind of like Apache for unix. To use ASP code your web server needs to be ISS, you'll need an Access Database (microsoft database) and the knowledge to integrate them. It's not as difficult as it sounds, but you need to figure out what kind of server your site is hosted on. That will determine if you should be looking toward ASP code, or PHP.
Oh well umm do you know what Centurytel has????I have centurytel.
They have ISS.....SO how ould I install this thing?
Is it a windows host? Make sure.

thats what I got on that page but here are the direction to get there......Go to supports and go to downloads. click on any of the account manigments and the when you get to the page with like 7 or so downloads of diffrent account things get the one called CGI account & manegment....aight
Well, this is pretty easy.
You have ftp access to your host right, and do you have a cgi-bin directory?
yeah I have acces to the host that has my web files on.....and whats the cgi-bin???????????
You can upload cgi files right?
Well if you didn't automatically get a cgi-bin, just make one. It's jut a directory inside your ROOT directory called cgi-bin.
Root directory???? what???? I dont know these things
Your main directory is your root.
www.site.com - root dir
www.site.com/index.html - index is in the root (good hosts have a public_html or something for html files inside the root though, but usually you have to pay for those kinda hosts)
www.site.com/cgi-bin - the bin a dir inside the root.
So when you upload with your ftp prog you probably see something like...
FTP/images
/sounds
index.html
I dunno, something like that. If there's a folder called public_html or somthing, make a cgi-bin on the same level as that, not inside it. If you don't have a public_html, just make a cgi-bin directory in the same place as your index or default file.
what would the cgi-bin be...would it be a file or a htmil file???
A directory. Create a new folder and name it cgi-bin.
ok now what
Now, upload to that folder the files:
CGI.EXE
CGI.CFG
error.htm
success.htm
And upload the .GIF to the root folder.
I was thinking...This prgram what does it really do....it makes accounts right away for ppl haveter they fill the form out right??cause I dont want that ughhhh thats very bad : /
What do you want? :/
Well what I want is a area where ppl can log in and few a page of there status....
