I am experiencing problems with upgrading MySQL from 3.23.49 to 4.0.12. I have already tried this twice by uninstalling MySQL, then installing the latest version. Each time I have done this, I cannot communicate with MySQL either through phpMyAdmin or through DreamWeaver MX. After reinstallaing the old version, everything is fine again.
Can somebody please explain in layman's terms exactly what I should do?
This problem is really exasperating as I have previously upgraded various versions of 3.xx.xx without any hassle at all. 😕
