Help with a PHP setup problem

I have php setup and working fine on my server but havce identified one problem.

If I use for example "http://www.mysite.com/stuff/index.php" as the URL to view my page everything works fine.

If however I misstype the URL and use "http://www.mysite.com/stuff/index/php" the page also loads but causes problems with one of my scripts.

I have tried this on other websites but it seems that only mine is doing this. Is there a setting to change on the server setting so I get a 404 message instead?

What web server are you using? Is it on your computer or a remote one that you have an account on?

If its not your computer then you could probably just ask the service provider to do it, but if its yours then we'd need to know the type of web server it is (apache, IIS, abyss, etc).

The server runs Debian GNU with Apache.

Then your best bet would be to send them an email to their customer support asking them to fix it or give an explanation as to why. Have you tried testing it with other sites that they host? As in the other users' pages?

Hehe, and make sure you dont have a folder called 'index' with a file called 'php'. 😉

So yeah, send them an email and ask them why, because I doubt that you'd be allowed to change the Apache settings that affect all the users.
