Worried about Mail Loop

I was teaching my little brother PHP today when he discovered the mail command. He then wrote a little loop to send emails in that loop. I know this is just plain wrong, and I told him not to use it (as well as disabling the mail command, which he wont be able to get around for some time, until he wisens up), but what legal actions could an ISP take against him if he was to implement this functions, even on a friend?

Hey Paul, that depends on your location and e-comm laws. Most ISPs dont take kindly to mail bombing, especially when server resources drop, and will most likely nuke your account with them.

Shut off your IMAP functions and ban the mail() function in your php.ini

Most responsible ISP's have limits to the number of emails you can "spam" at once, so if they didn\'t block it, I wouldn't worry to much, unless someone\'s out to get ya'all already 😉

Hm... I live in Australia and my ISP is a rural south australian ISP. I decided to take a little test and sent 10 emails to my hotmail account (Although it did take at leat 30 seconds to send, probably due to the fect it kept opening the connection each time it sent). All 10 emails came, and nothings happened, so I dont think theres been any trouble over it.

I have however disabled both those functions and disabled anyone else accessing the PHP.INI file. Thanks very much.
