need help counting results

Well i'm doing a website where I need to add together to sets of data from mysql_num_rows.

I get the two sets of data to print etc but i am unsure of how to add them together? 🙁

Can anyone help me?

Also, For a news page I am unsure how to separate all news items into different pages.

um, mysql_num_rows() returns the number of rows from the query in question.
adding them would be a simple arithmetic addition

as for separating items into pages, you could use LIMIT in your SQL query.
Based on the page number you would find out the rows to offset, then based on the number of entries per page the number of rows to select.
