select/option and referencing values...

when submitting a form and using that form to insert a table row, how do i reference <select> and <option> variables? the text fields and such are working just fine, as well as PW fields, but the form is not submitting values for dropdown boxes... should i use some kind of array maybe???

sample code would be MOST appreciated... thanks!!!

you give a name to the select box. <select name="blah">

then you give a value to every option. <option value="1">one</option><option value="2">two</option>

and when you insert it into the table you just use the select name value as the variable. $blah

the chosen option value (let's say "one" was selected) will be inserted. in the case of "one", "1" will be inserted.

could you give me an example of the sql statement by any chance? just for the example you gave?

would it be $sql = "INSERT INTO tablename (fieldname) VALUES ($blah)" ???
