I have a MySQL database running on my home computer with apache web server. Sometimes when I go to access a page that uses this database it can take ages to load, sometimes up to 5 seconds (It's only getting one or two entries, which are pretty small), but then after that it can serve them up so fast that you'd think it was all written in HTML.
I guess what I'm asking is, is this just a weakness of MySQL that it can take a while to start when it hasn't been in memory for a while? Or could it have something to do with the webserver, hardware or OS (Win2kPro).
Hehe, maybe just my computer is slow
Any comments would be most welcome.

PS: I'm not saying theres any problem with it, as it makes no difference really that the first query will be slow and then the rest very fast when running on a propper web server that never shuts down. I'm just saying that this is what I notice when I make the first query of the day on my computer which has only been running for a few minutes.
