Hiya Gurus!!

I think MY problem is a challenge for YOU! ;o)

Here's the situation:
- NT4 Server
- IIS4 or 5 (I don't know exactly)
- Member section

What I would like to know, whether it's possible to use the username and password entered by the person, who was granted access to the secured member directory on the NT server.

Is there a way to get a hold of those variables? If so, how is this done?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about getting access to NTFS permissions? If so, the NTFS will see all web users as the user that is running the web server (ex. nobody). As far as I know, there is probably no way to do what you're doing besides limiting user rights within your web application itself.

What I mean is the following:
When a person logs in into the secured member section through the internet, I want to be able to use the username and password entered.

Think of it as if we were using the Apache webserver and the .htpasswd file. There's no way of telling when and if a user will login, but somehow the data must be stored somewhere.

I want to retrieve this data with the help of a php-script. Is there any documentation available on how to do this?

So assuming that you're using a web server to authenticate the user rather than a php script, you want to be able to access the web server variables that store the username and password..?

If so, you would just use a php script to access the following variables:

$SERVER["PHP_AUTH_USER"]
$SERVER["PHP_AUTH_PW"]

You might want to check out this section of the php manual as well:
