A Countdown Function

Is it possible, or even feasible to code a program that works on the web that counts down from say 10 minutes or so, then does the specified action, such as calls up a char array of some sort or whatever and then does the action specified? I Know you can do this in JS, just never actually attempted with php and wondered if there was a time class or something of the like. Yes i tried php.net/en/manual or whatever it is but i couldnt find it. Thanks.

with java, you can make an applet to do that, but with php, you need some kind of script execution to make it run unless you set it up on a refresh and then would not be efficient.
