session_start help...

in a forum registration, where I'm useing session_start the browse give me this warning.....

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at C:\PHP\sessiondata\profilax\asnforum-1.0\auth.php:2) in C:\PHP\sessiondata\profilax\asnforum-1.0\auth.php on line 16

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\PHP\sessiondata\profilax\asnforum-1.0\auth.php:2) in C:\PHP\sessiondata\profilax\asnforum-1.0\auth.php on line 20

If u need the source code tell me and I post...
please help...I use Win2k with php4 and my sql....

The error you're getting indicates that output was already sent to the browser before you attempted to start your session. The function session_start() has to be called before any output has been sent...ie before any html or text is printed.

example:

This code will work

session_start();
print "<html><body>\n";
print "page\n";
print "</body></html>\n";

This code won't

print "<html><body>\n";
print "page\n";
print "</body></html>\n";
session_start();
