File upload permissions XP Pro

Hi All

I am trying to upload a file to a local directory and I am getting permission errors. I am using a local server IIS 5 on my XP Pro box. It used to work but I deleted the directory and now I cannot get the permissions correct. They seem fine in IIS (read/write/execute) but I still get this error:

Warning: copy(members/manager.jpg) [function.copy]: failed to create stream: Permission denied in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\prgadvertise.php on line 213

I have tried everything I can think of and now I turn to you for help.

The directory is shared under inetpub\wwwroot

I have read through many of the other posts on various forums for people experiencing the similar problems, and many mention the IUSR permissions but I cannot find anywhere on XP Pro where I can assign user this user permission to the directory.

I tried looking at Security and Sharing but there is nothing to do with users there

Try using move_uploaded_file(). I use WinXP Home and i dont think theres a great difference between Home and Pro.

I just got the answer from another forum and I will put it here (rich in keywords) just in case someone else in the future has a similar problem.

The answer was that I had set on Simple Folder Security in XP so that it didn't matter what IIS saw, the IUSER did not have permissions to upload files to that directory. I had to set simple security off so that I could give read/write/execute permission for that user.

How exactly did you disable this? I have done alot of searching on 'Simple Folder Security' and have come up short handed.

I don't think you can disable simple file sharing on XP Home.

In XP Pro, open a Windows Explorer window, click Tools - Folder Options, click the View tab and near the end of the advanced options you'll find the checkbox to disable simple file sharing.
